5. Ademsteun

5.11 Breath & Core

Bal 1

Bal 1

Naast andere training zie 8.3.

Left exercise Breath and core

Take 2 basketballs.

Ball 1
One ball you press between back and the wall.
It depends of which part of the back and abdominal muscles you will activate and strengthen.
Also you can use this exercise as a manual therapy/ soft tissue manipulation in the case of back complaints, included H.N.P. Beware of radiation pain in the legs. If there is pain or thumbness at the front side of the leg, in de region of the M.rectus femoris it can be the level L3/4.
If there are complaints in hamstrings and N.ischias region it can be a HNP of the level L4/5/S1.
You bend your knees during the exercise automaticly.Keep moving constantly.

Ball 2
With ball 2 you start throwing the ball against the wall and during the throwing you blow out firmly. If possible you repeat the movement 3 or 4 times, perhaps still longer in the time of one long expiration PFFFFFF.
After that very deep expiration you’ll conclude that your inspiration will become deeper and deeper.
Possibilities: double handed.. bring the ball at first as low as possible behind your neck and throw it powerful against the wall.
: Single handed throwing.

Right picture.
Press the ball against the side of your belly against the abdominal muscles. With the other ball you may make bouncing exercises in the same way: 3 or 4 times expiration and when you need air, take a deep breath..automaticly.

In both exersises counts that how further the feet are placed off the wall, the more reinforcement will happen.

Exercise two= flanks .

In the front of you there is a wall too. A garage or something like that.
Interesting is also that by the press of the ball against the side of your body you can train the core=the abdominal muscles like as M.Transversus Abdominis, but all others too.Your back muscles keep the columna vertebrae in straight position as much as possible.Pressing the ball against your ribs give the possiblity of strengthen the chestmuscles and give the opportunity for thoraxexpansion.
Between the trunkball and the feet there is a CLOSED muscle chain.
Between the balls both of them there is an hal open muscle chain.

Its an excellent training too for backpain. You may start with the feet nearer to the wall.Placing the feet further from the wall the exercise is getting heavier. The deeper you come, how more bending the knees, there will decrease the lordosis lumbalis. And... its a nice exercise for the legmuscles. The ball in the back and against the flanks rolling and pressing is an excellent painkiller by an intensive irradiation of the thick nervefibres, in the case o fHNP etc too.Its a safe exercise ande the person who does the exercises can redgulate the intensity by itself.
Important is how many threws one can do before he needs air again. When he is fully empty except the RESIDU there follws automaticly a very very deep costodiafragmal inhaling.

You can train this exercise including the pelvis bottom muscles. Also the breath support you may train with only ball 1, in the back or flanks. By bouncing firmly, ev'ry second a bounce press and in the same time you shut off the mouth and don't let escape any air.
